Original Concuss Bandana

from concuss

T-Shirt/Apparel

“Bandana” has origins in the Sanskrit word badhnati, the verb for “tie”; it was later Anglicised into “bandannoes”. They have long been used as sub-cultural signifiers—Martha Washington had her husbands face printed on some, despite a British textile printing ban; miners in the 1930’s wore red rags in solidarity, which popularized the term “redneck”; the “hanky code”, popular in the 1970s gay male casual-sex-seeking community, was a set of rules in by which bandana color and pocket placement communicated an exhaustive list of sexual preferences; and of course, American street gangs have long used bandanas as flags of their nation. This bandana, lovingly designed by Barfly for Concuss, is part of the “Our Sea” collection honoring Suicidal Tendencies graphic mastermind Rick Clayton.
